The Swedish Crown Princess Victoria Bernadotte, 38, is pregnant, it was announced on Instagram today.

The Swedish Royal Family broke the news on the social network posting a picture of King Carl XIV Gustaf's heir apparent, her husband Prince Daniel, 41, and their daughter Princess Estelle, 3.

"The Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel have the great joy to announce that they are expecting their second child," the caption read.

The Royal Family spokesperson Margareta Thorgren told Aftonbladet:

"It is very pleasing news. The family is very happy."

”She is very happy”

On Victoria's health she said:

"She is feeling excellent and is very happy for the child that is expected in March."

Thorgren had no information about the child's gender.

The Duchess of Västergötland Married Prince Daniel, then Westling, in June 2010. One year later it was announced that Victoria was pregnant and in February 2012 she gave birth to her first daughter, Estelle.

The expected royal baby will become the second in line to the Swedish throne after Estelle and Victoria.

Already grandparents

Victoria will continue to carry out her royal duties during the autumn, according to the Royal Family.

"At the moment we have no further information to give," the press secretary Daniel Urso said.

Queen Silvia and King Carl XIV Gustaf are already experienced grandparents. Victoria's little sister, Princess Madeleine, 33, and her British-American husband Christopher O'Neill, 41, already have two children, Princess Leonore, 2, and Prince Nicolas, who was born on the 15 June this year.
